Attempting to Communicate with Other Players via this Forum Area

Hell Everyone. Since we do not have a chat feature yet I am just wondering if players notice when their name is called out within a topic so we may be able to communicate.
For example... Whenever I address Josh via @Josh he notices he has correspondence and logs in to read it.

Just wanted to say you've got some great skills but have not seen you playing much lately. We just played against each other about an hour ago for the first time in many weeks. I noticed that you must have started your profile over since your total amount of games is much less than what you had accrued previously. You still have a great win-loss percentage but I see that you have started from scratch. What happened? Got bored and started anew?.. LOL if you happen to log in and see this message to you add me as a friend so we can start being partners for a change. Good luck, Mike-Ox-Big.

@Josh,
I see when I post your name it is the only one that changes to red like it has notified you or it will notify you. Is that the case or anytime that we put an ampersand in front of someone's player name will it be a marker for a sitting message or they have been mentioned in this forum area? In other words, how has this been set up to work for everyone?

Yes I think, it's like a tagging feature. It send an email to the person who is tagged to let them know.

I am trying to test the ability of the forum to communicate with other players via adding an ampersand (@) before your gamer name and it is supposed to contact your email that is registered in your profile.

Besides @josh who is with Administration, you are the first player to notice and respond to the system generated email going to a player's individual registered profile contact email.

That's too bad since it would be great to communicate!

I just quit the game with you as your partner and it was in the very first hand! I wasn't going to put myself through the frustration of your card strategy that is still blowing my mind. I had none of your suit that you called for Trump in the way of clubs. I did the next best thing and sent you an Ace from the other three suits hoping that you had at least one ace in your Trump suit to make four of a kind so we would at least get 10 points meld. For some reason I cannot fathom you sent me back both of the hearts aces plus two other hearts I guess in an attempt to clear your hand of hearts so you could Trump on that suit. So since you gave up the ability to have four of a kind aces you ended up getting two points of meld because you had the two nines of clubs. I had zero meld so there was an extremely slim chance we were going to make our bid. Why would you give up the four of a kind let alone give up any aces anytime???!!!!

I see many noobs giving up both aces in a suit in some wacky attempt to void their hand of that suit so they can Trump on it but why???!!!! Don't y'all realize you can Trump on that suit after you play your aces if you retain them?

This strategy ranks up there with a bid winner holding on to Pinochle (4 points) they have called Trump as either clubs or hearts so why hold on to the Pinochle???!!!! They got a whopping four points and now have two worthless cards in their hand. And a lot of times their partner has a pinochle wherein they could have had 30 points meld and the four junk cards in the partners secondary hand...LOL

I wanted to explain to you Jared why I quit that game because I could not tolerate what you had done. Please re-evaluate your card strategies

Hope you get my message.
We have been partners many times and I enjoy playing as your partner. We just finished the game and one as usual. I just wanted to make one comment that when you pass cards could you send a variety of that suit instead of all just power? I know the power logically seems the best but just like single deck a partner may need one of the five cards to make a family run. Also in double deck we have the ability oftentimes to make a double run for much higher points. If you had sent me a spread of the Trump suit twice during our game we would have had double family run for hundreds of points since I saw you had the right cards but you just didn't send them and opted to send me all just power. Let's try it next time and again I enjoy being your partner.

I hope this message reaches you via your registered email for this pinochle app we both play. Numerous times we've been partners and have done quite well and sometimes we've been opponents too. We just finished a game being partners and I just wanted to reach out and make a few comments. We won as usual so that's awesome and thank you. One thing I noticed and this is very common in double deck is that we have the ability to make a bunch of points if we pass a spread of cards for the Trump suit our partner calls out.. in other words I mean that if we send the four card pass of any combination from Ace to Jack for that suit we have the possibility of making a double family run meld near 150 points. I feel this is where the game is at for double deck. When we go chasing regular meld that we may be used to in single deck we hurt ourselves. There were a couple of times during our game when you sent me mostly power for the suit I called out for Trump instead of a spread of that suit. While that round went on I noticed you had the cards I needed to make two of everything which would have been a double family run. You may remember one of them where I called out diamonds and you kept a king of diamond so you could have four of a kind Kings in your hand for meld. That was great and quite clever on your part but that was only worth eight points but if you sent me that King it would have been to help complete a double family run for 150 meld. You may have noticed when I send you cards I tried to spread them out and sometimes once the round gets going I may surprise you and throw you an ace in that Trump during the first book. That is because if I all five cards for a run I figured you have picked a suit that already has an ace so I will send you 10 through jack instead. Anyway, that's just a thought for us to get some mega points for meld but we do pretty darn well as partners so make sure that you have me on your friends list. Good luck and have fun.

What do you mean hitting the "You Got Lucky" message button on me a few minutes ago?...lol

I made 90 points on a Bid win requirement of only 55 points so I think I made it with room to spare...lol. Also, I had NO aces of that trump suit of diamonds. I think you had all four...

You are a good player and we meet up often so why don't you add me as a friend so we get matched up as partners more?!! We' ll do quite well and we won't worry about "You Got Lucky" buttons... hahaha.

Wow... We do quite well together!!! Sorry I had to keep some cards back from you a couple times but would hate to break up the family runs I already had in the suit you called for Trump... bhahahaha. We gained a lot of points those rounds.

One thing we could do better is sometimes you need to send a spread of the selection you have for the Trump suit I call instead of just power at the top. We will have more chances for double runs of 150 pt meld that way and it also gives more flexibility coverage in bidding to fill gaps of cards our partner doesn't have in the Trump suit they called out. Stops us from being locked in to only bidding when we have a marriage in double deck PLUS that's how we act in single deck anyway.

Why would you think I got lucky when I already had my family run and we collected 15 points more than what I won the bid for??? Where was the luck involved?

You may have noticed by now that I just about comment every round in a positive way including to my competition. I do use the "You Got Lucky" button sometimes but only when it is quite obvious.

I can see that how identical avatar names may prevent the system from connecting up my attempted communications to others but are we sure all switches and knobs and valves are still switched on for this out-of-box feature?...lol

Assigning additional number to repeat names at time of sign up is a great idea and utilized on other game apps.

If something isn't switched on and you find it would I need to resend my previous attempts to others or would it some how retro contact them?

We were just playing as partners on the "Expert Double Deck" table. We were far down on points primarily because I made us crash twice trying to stretch bids to hopefully win with my rookie partner. I apologize for setting us so please accept my apology. I was trying to get things going especially having to do all the bidding for us. I know it is early in your experience but if you are going to sit at the expert tables then you will need to learn to bid over 60 to take a bid. The one you just won was at 55.

I just quit the game but I will not apologize for that...
You just won that bid and I passed you 3/4 of a "Double Pinochle" worth 30 points of meld. You passed me back the two Queens of Spades?!?!? WHY???

If you are unfamiliar with all the combinations of cards to achieve the different meld value then please review the practice and training info on this game's website. @Josh has really done an excellent job in putting this info together. Maybe print out the meld list or write it down for reference during gameplay.

The reason I changed my name (it used to be something different) is because I am trying to subtly communicate that players, whether it be my partner or the opponents, should pass a spread of the suit called out for Trump...not just a bunch of power cards at the top.

Here is why I tried to pass you a variety of A-10-K-Q-J for the 4-card pass. Obviously you cannot pass all five cards needed for a family run (15pts) but 4 out of 5 ain't bad...lol...if you have them in the suit your partner called for Trump.

Another reason is because we are required in double deck to have a royal marriage (KQ) to qualify the hand move forward otherwise you go set (down, crash).

And one of my personal biggest reasons is because you have the chance of creating a "Double Family Run" (AA-10 10-KK-QQ-JJ) in your partner's hand worth 150pts!!!

PLAYERS WIthe a little experience regularly send a variety of the suit when they play at the "Single Deck" table but for some reason that eludes me they don't do the same important task when they get in the double deck areas.

In my opinion...and that's what it is...my opinion...
Is that you have some decent basic pinochle skill. Your record, although quite new, reflects good early success too!!! But your total games played is less that 40 or 50 and you are already getting on the expert tables...hmmm.

Maybe it's too early.
It affected our game... especially not knowing a double pinochle and having to overbid to compensate the lack of strong bidding as a team.
Again...my opinions.

Keep playing strong and I hope you review the info and tutorials.
